Congratulations, Anna! We’re so proud of you!
On May 19th, Anna S. graduated from high school and walked across the stage to accept her diploma! We’re proud of all our Kansas City seniors, but we just have to give a special shout out to Anna. She’s an inspiration to all of us, and we’re proud to have gotten to know her in her time with Oltjen Orthodontics.
Anna was recently featured in an incredible interview with ABC News as well as an article in Good Morning America.
This young woman is paralyzed from the waist down, and she took her first steps in years to cross the graduation stage and accept her high school diploma. Her grit and determination to walk at graduation, and everything she went through to make that happen, is just remarkable.
Dr. Oltjen remembers Anna as “Determined — absolutely. When she visited our office, she was determined to do the transfer from her chair to the clinic chair on her own. She was determined to not let the accident define her. She is an inspiration for so many people.”
What really inspired our team was the way Anna remained positive, even with the challenges she had ahead of her. She once told Dr. Oltjen that she’d had use of her legs for fourteen years — and some people never have use of their legs. Her outlook then and now shows an incredible amount of grace.
